About Malou

Hi, I’m Malou (Xiao Chun Wang). I am a professional and confident Dublin-based Chinese acupuncturist with over 25 years of experience, both, in China and Dublin. I am also an accredited counsellor and psychotherapist.

Following three years nursing training, which involved studying Acupuncture and the use of Chinese herbs, I practiced as a Traditional Chinese Medicine nurse for many years in a hospital in Shanghai. I worked in the Department of Internal Diseases and the Department of Neurosurgery, where Western and Chinese Medicine are used in tandem in order to speed up patient’s recovery.

To be able to practice acupuncture in Ireland, I underwent a further two-year study and gained a Diploma in Acupuncture from Shanghai Acupuncture College Ireland. In 2010, I went back to Shanghai to practice more clinical skills in Gynaecology and Oncology departments in Yue Yang Hospital.

As an accredited counsellor and psychotherapist, I am a proud full member of IACP. I am also a member of ICEEFT.a My therapeutic approach is humanistic integrative, which allows me to draw from a diverse range of theoretical frameworks to meet the unique needs of each client. These approaches include attachment theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), client centred theory, existentialism, Gestalt therapy, psychodynamic theory, family systems theory, and mindfulness practices. Additionally, I specialise in Emotional Focus Therapy (EFT), which plays a central role in my therapeutic work. Whether working with individuals or couples, my aim is to foster harmonious connections within themselves and with their loved ones.

What is Acupuncture?

It’s the ancient art of Chinese medicine (Traditional Chinese Medical) which has been practiced for more than 3,000 years. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) system, the healthy body is balanced with Qi (vital energy) flowing freely throughout the body in specific channels and nourishing the organs. Acupuncture is particularly effective in Pain Management, Anxiety, Stress & Panic Attacks, Depression, Cancer Care, Asthma, Bronchitis, Stroke, Headaches, Sinusitis, Gastrointestinal Disorders (Ulcers, Constipation, Diarrhoea, Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Gynaecological (Menopause, PMS, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Menstrual Cramps), Obstetric (Infertility, Pregnancy, Postnatal Care), Urinary and Sexual Problems.
